Matt Greene, Pastor
Matt has been the faithful pastor of Unity Baptist Church in Sylvester, Ga. since December 15, 2002. He is happily married to Kimberly; they have three beautiful children - AnnaBrooke, Aubrey, and Bo. Matt received his Master of Divinity from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.
Matt truly has a heart for evangelism. His desire is to see the lost become saved and believers become sold out to Christ. In doing so, he has preached revival services over the state of Georgia including Alabama and Kentucky.
During his ministry at Unity Baptist Church the church has grown in membership, and has relocated to a larger facility to continue God’s vision of reaching their community for His Kingdom. The mission of Unity Baptist Church is to build Biblically based families by ministering to the entire family unit.
Charlie Brown, Associate Pastor
Charlie Brown has served as Minister of Youth and/or Minister of Education since 1984 in three Georgia churches with the last one being Byne Memorial Baptist Church in Albany, GA. He is married to Retha and has three married daughters with two living in Sylvester and one in Albany.
As a Senior Adult himself, Charlie sees the value that this age group brings to the church. He believes that based on Eph. 4 that all the members of the Body of Christ are essential for achieving goals that God has set for the church. One never retires until he dies, but also each one who exists has value until then.
His goal is that through Christian Education all of the church will become united - being under Christ's authority, being neighborly toward each other, becoming imitators of Christ, working together as a team, and realizing the importance of each individual regardless of age.
His prayer is that we all serve faithfully as Ambassadors for Christ - 2 Cor. 5:17-20 - within the church family and in the world where we live.
Phillip Dove, Youth Pastor
Phillip has served as our youth pastor since January 2006. He graduated from Tift County High School in 1992, and then attended college at ABAC. Before joining us at Unity, Phillip was the youth pastor at Crossway Baptist Church in Tifton for two years.
He is the proud husband of Michelle Dove, and they are celebrating 13 years together. They have one daughter, Jordyn. However, this couple loves all the church's children as if they were their very own. They are both truly loving and approachable by children of all ages. It is obvious that God is using them both to reach the children of our community.
Phillip chooses to serve as a youth pastor, because he loves students for who they are. He has a desire and a passion to see them grow in their relationship with Christ, and he also wants to encourage them to form and grow strong, supportive relationships with each other.
Minister of Music
Marsha Hickox, Secretary
Marsha has been our devoted secrtary, office manager, coordinator, etc. since May 2000. She graduated from Central High School of Thomas County and attended college at Darton. Her training for her specific job comes from what she terms as "God's boot camp." She truly feels that God has graciously equipped her with the talents and gifts necessary for answering His call to the ministry that she serves Him through at Unity Baptist Church.
Marsha is the proud wife of Jeff. They have three boys: Michael, Cody, and Ryan. Marsha's secret passion is photography, especially when the pictures are of God's beautiful world and the people He created.
Brad Floyd, Children's Minister
Brad lives in Tifton Georgia where he teaches 8th grade History. Brad has a heart for young people longing to reach children with the gospel of Jesus Christ. His ministry at Unity has grown through using modern methods to reach the next generation.
